Started by Two Guys Who Tanned the Leather Themselves
Phil Kalas and Dan Cordova met working the floor at Horween® Leather, Chicago's oldest tannery, running since 1905. Years of handling the hides gave them a habit of asking why no one they worked with ever got to build something out of the leather they spent all day producing. So they started Ashland, right here in Chicago, and named the wallets after the city that raised them: Tony the Ant, Bugs Moran, Frank the Enforcer, Johnny the Fox.
