The leather
Horween® Aspen Horsehide leather
Horween® Aspen Horsehide has a natural pebbled grain and a rich luster. It is finished with a casein protein top coat that makes it scratch resistant, and it still picks up character as you carry it. It comes from the tannery in Chicago, and every LaSalle is handcrafted at our shop, in the same city.
We built the rest of the bag to match the heritage and quality of the leather.

Fifteen years of getting small details right on wallets, now applied to a bag. Here are the ones that matter most.
You carry a laptop, a charger, a notebook and a full day of decisions. The LaSalle works hard all day and looks like nothing else in the room.
YKK Excella® zippers
A premium zipper line from YKK, one of the best-known zipper makers. You open this bag all day, so we chose a zipper that feels smooth in the hand.
Solid brass hardware
We compared hardware from four vendors, then chose solid brass for every metal part. It is durable and warms with age.
Volara® foam padding
We tried three types of foam before choosing Volara®, a closed-cell foam. It sits between the lining and the leather, so you never see it. You feel it when the bag holds its shape and your laptop has a cushion.

Cordura® nylon lining
We tried three types of nylon before choosing Cordura®, a fabric brand known for durable, abrasion-resistant nylon. It lines the part that meets laptop corners, keys and chargers.
Our story
Why we built the LaSalle
Ashland started making bags in 2011. Then our wallets became popular, and for years they were what we were known for.
Fifteen years of crafting wallets and other small leather goods made us leather experts and leathercraft experts. It taught us to sweat the edges, the stitching and the fit. The LaSalle is those details at bag scale, and it is us going back to our roots.
We spent 18 months designing and tweaking it in Chicago, until it met Ashland quality and complemented the heritage and quality of Horween® leather.
