Men's Leather Wallet FAQs

What leather are Ashland wallets made from?

Every wallet is cut from Horween® leather tanned in Chicago, including Shell Cordovan, Chromexcel®, Dublin, and Essex. Learn about Horween® leather and how each tannage wears in.

Where are these wallets made?

Handcrafted in Chicago in our Bucktown workshop, six-tenths of a mile from the Horween® tannery. Both Ashland founders started out as tanners at Horween®.

How many cards does an Ashland wallet hold?

Capacity varies by model, and each product page lists the exact number of card slots and bill slots. Slim card cases carry a few cards flat, while a six-slot billfold like Johnny the Fox handles a full daily carry.

Is Horween® leather water-resistant?

Hot-stuffed tannages such as Chromexcel® are water-resistant, not waterproof. If a wallet gets wet, blot it with a dry cloth and let it dry at room temperature away from direct heat.

How do I care for a leather wallet?

Wipe it with a dry cloth as needed and condition lightly only when the leather feels dry. Most Horween® tannages are already hot-stuffed with oils and waxes, so over-conditioning does more harm than good.

What does the lifetime guarantee cover?

We guarantee stitching and leather against coming apart under normal use. Exceptions: misuse of the product. Not a blanket replace-for-any-reason policy. Full details are on our returns and guarantees page.
