Every Standard Belt is a single 9 oz. strap of full grain Horween® leather. No layers, no filler, nothing to delaminate.
Dublin vs. Illini vs. Latigo
Dublin pulls up light and lightens where it flexes. Illini Latigo runs firmer with a deeper brown. Both age into a real patina with wear. Water-resistant, not waterproof.
How to size your belt
Order 2" larger than your jean size. A 34 in jeans takes a 36 belt. The strap will stretch about 1" (one hole) as it breaks in, and that stretch is already built into this sizing advice.
- Best method: measure a belt you already own, from the buckle fold to the hole you actually use.
- Common mistake: ordering your jean size instead of sizing up. That leaves you a hole too tight once the leather is broken in.
- This is a 1.5" strap built for jeans and everyday wear. It runs too wide for most suit trousers.

What belt size should I order?
Order 2" larger than your jean size. A 34 takes a 36. The strap stretches about 1" with wear, and that's already factored into this sizing.
Is this belt waterproof?
No. Horween® Dublin and Illini Latigo are water-resistant thanks to the oils and waxes worked into the leather during tanning, but no leather we use is waterproof.
How is the Standard Belt made?
It's a single 9 oz. strap of full grain Horween® leather, not two layers glued around a filler. That single-piece construction is what keeps it from delaminating over time.
What's covered under the guarantee?
We guarantee the stitching and leather against coming apart under normal use for life. It doesn't cover misuse, and it isn't a blanket replace-for-any-reason policy.
What is the Mystery Belt?
It's a B-Grade Horween® belt with minor cosmetic variance that we choose for you. It carries the same lifetime guarantee as our standard belts, at a lower price.
