Thin enough to forget. Vertical so nothing falls out.

For anyone who wants upright card slots, hidden cash pockets, and a front-pocket profile that disappears.

Horween® Shell Cordovan is equine shell leather, vegetable-tanned for about six months. Dense fiber resists creasing, and the finish self-polishes with wear.

Thin enough to forget. Vertical so nothing falls out.

The Leather: Horween® Shell Cordovan

Widely considered the finest leather in the world, Shell Cordovan is vegetable-tanned at Horween® over six months in roughly 100 mostly-manual steps, a process unchanged since 1905. Its dense fiber structure resists creasing, and it's self-polishing: a quick pass with a horsehair brush revives the glassy luster.

How It Ages

Black Shell Cordovan builds a deep, glassy shine with wear rather than a dramatic color shift. Scuffs buff out with a horsehair brush rather than standing out.

FAQ

Why does Shell Cordovan cost more? Each shell is vegetable-tanned over six months in ~100 mostly-manual steps, and demand outstrips what Horween® can make.

Where does cash go? Folded in half, into the hidden slots under each side.

Vertical vs. regular Bugs Moran? Same minimalist idea; four vertical slots plus two hidden slots, vs. the classic horizontal four-slot layout.

How do I care for it? A quick pass with a horsehair brush brings back the shine: Shell Cordovan is self-polishing, no product needed.

Can I personalize it? Yes, most items can be monogrammed. Add Item Personalization at checkout or email info@ashlandleather.com.

  • Leather Care

Shell Cordovan: Tough, Self-Healing, and Easy to Care For

Shell cordovan is legendary for its durability and beauty. Its secret? Natural oils that redistribute with wear, practically erasing minor scuffs as you go.

To keep your shell cordovan looking its best:

Avoid sharp objects: Keep keys and loose change in a different pocket.

Beat the heat: Don't leave your wallet in a hot car.

Effortless shine: Just carry it, and your wallet develops a beautiful polish naturally in your pocket.

With just a little care, your shell cordovan will last for years. A soft cloth and horsehair brush are all you need for regular cleaning.

Ashland leather comes pre-oiled, so hold off on conditioners for a few months. Later, if you'd like, try Saphir Cordovan Cream or Horween Venetian Shoe Cream for an extra touch of care.
